back to the SF i used to know

21Apr03

when i first moved to SF, concerts were well attended, but rarely sold out. when they were sold out it was always because the group was hot and SF is a little hipper than most places. Then the boom came, and everything was sold out, all the time. you couldn’t get a table at a restaurant. you couldn’t go to any bars or clubs without feeling like (very poor) sardine, and you couldn’t get tickets to a show unless you bought them the day they went on sale.

now it’s back to the old ways. there are tons of bars and pubs where you can have a reasonably quiet drinks with your pals, not every concert sells out, but the ones that do make me feel good about where i live (ladytron is sold out. how cool is that?). and last night, i was able to purchase 2 tix to an HK action flick that’s playing in the SF int’l film festival today. i’m psyched.
