one of life’s great mysteries

from don’t stand so close to me there’s one line that always kills me: her friends are so jealous / you know how bad girls get.

i am on a never ending quest to determine whether the girls are bad, or whether how girls get is bad. i know that before sting joined the police, he taught english. he knows about poetry. he’s smart. did he intentionally make the theta role of bad vague? is it some sort of double entendre? if not, which did he really mean?

i know it’s stupid to devote processing power to this, but let’s face it, the police were formative music for pretty much all of us. no matter how punk rawk or mainstream you were, you still knew every word to every police song, until sting went solo. and that was that.
