hypocrisy

07Jun05

last night i was listening to last week’s this american life (Real player file), which is on the twisting of american history by the fundamentalists and the church and others to make documents like the constitution or the bible meet their needs. it’s a fantastic listen. and it’s also torturous, listening to right wingers talk about how they’re being persecuted for their christian values. how the will of the majority voters are being superseded by the protection of the courts (aka activist judges). then today i read a bloomberg piece about the supreme court ruling on medical marijuana. and it points out that in this case the “activist judges” overturned popular vote in favor of the conservatives. do you think a single conservative will ever admit to this example? do you think a single liberal media pundit will be aware enough to point this out? i doubt both cases. shame, really.
