well, i have found the perfect replacement for my boa XS – a slim laptop backpack with an separate laptop compartment made for the larger 15″ and 17″ widescreen laptops. it’s a brand new backpack from timbuk2 called the Track. and i can’t believe how utterly awesome it is. in fact it’s even better than the boa xs was, because it offers all the same important features, but in an even simpler package.

there are two large zippered compartments – one slim one that is fully padded and lined with corduroy all the way around for the laptop and a second larger one with lots of space and an organizer wall for everything else. other than that there are just two small zippers on the the shell that provide access to little pockets. the look is streamlined – there’s nothing hanging off or bulging out. and there’s plenty of attention paid to details. the bottom of the bag is rubberized so you can set it down. there’s a small loop to hook a blinky light to if you’re riding your bike. there’s lined pockets on the organizer wall for your cell phone and ipod – and even a pass through from the ipod pocket to the outside of the bag for your headphone cord.

i cannot say enough about how great this bag is. it’s as well thought out as a chrome bag, only chrome doesn’t make any small backpacks. and timbuk2 was totally on the ball and got it to me before i have to head to CES, too.
